Niklas Ekvall

Niklas Ekvall is an Adjunct Professor and Lecturer at the Department of Finance, Stockholm School of Economics (SSE). He concurrently serves as CEO of AP4, a Swedish public pension fund, where he pioneered portfolio decarbonization in 2012 and co-founded the Portfolio Decarbonization Coalition (PDC) in 2014. His career includes roles as Head of Treasury at Nordea Bank, Head of Asset Management at Nordea, Carnegie, and AP3.

Education: Holds a PhD from the Stockholm School of Economics.

Research Interests: Focuses on sustainable finance, climate-related financial policies, and decarbonization strategies. His work bridges academic research with practical applications in institutional investment and policy design.

Labs/Teams: Affiliated with the Swedish House of Finance (SHoF), contributing to national and international research networks on environmental finance.
