Nikki Kane is a Lecturer in the History of Art at the University of Glasgow, affiliated with the School of Culture and Creative Arts. Her research focuses on artistic labor, festival and biennial cultures, curatorial frameworks, and socially-engaged practices. She holds leadership roles in the Artist-Run Initiatives in Britain Research Network (funded by British Art Network) and serves as a trustee for organizations like Scottish Contemporary Art Network (SCAN) and Wasps Studios Scotland.
Teaching: Convenes 'Cultural Institutions' on the MSc Creative Industries & Cultural Policy program and 'Introduction to Creative Practice' on the undergraduate Creative Arts & Industries program.
Professional Activities: Member of the Association for Art History's Doctoral & Early Career Researcher project board, and Trustee of Market Gallery (Glasgow) and The Workshop & Artists Studio Provision Scotland (Wasps). Her curatorial work bridges academic research and public engagement, emphasizing collaborative and artist-led initiatives.
