Dr Nik Dickerson is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Sociology at the University of Lincoln (UK), affiliated with the Sport, business and society research group. He holds a BA in Sport Sociology (Ithaca College, 2005), MA in Cultural Studies of Sport (University of Maryland, 2007), and PhD in Cultural Studies of Sport (University of Iowa, 2012). His research focuses on intersections of race, gender, and national identity within sport media, advertising, and film. He previously taught at the University of Iowa as a Lecturer in American Studies and served seven years as Senior Lecturer at Lincoln.
Research interests include Black masculinities, mediated drug use narratives, nationalism in sports, and digital memetics. His work analyzes how cultural constructs shape perceptions of athletes and identity through platforms like internet memes and professional sports branding. Recent studies explore racialized representations in WWE storytelling and anti-Kaepernick social media discourse.
