Dr. Marcus Maloney is an Assistant Professor in the Research Centre in Postdigital Cultures at Coventry University. His research focuses on digital culture dynamics, particularly 'culture wars,' masculinities in online spaces, video game narratives, and postdigital socialities. He holds a Doctorate in Sociology from La Trobe University (2014).
Key research areas include analyzing gender and race representation in digital media, with notable work on Reddit's gaming communities and FIFA22 player attributes. His 2019 book Gender, Masculinity and Video Gaming explores online gaming cultures. Recent work examines Andrew Tate's discourses and intersectional stereotypes in digital sports representation.
