Nigel Goodman

Nigel Goodman serves as a Senior Research Fellow in Air Quality and Health at the University of Canberra's Health Research Institute. He is an active researcher with current projects extending through 2025 and accepts PhD students for supervision.

His research focuses on reducing human exposure to indoor and outdoor air pollution sources, with particular expertise in volatile organic compounds, indoor air quality, and climate change-related health impacts. Key areas include wood heater emissions, wildfire smoke interventions, and public health strategies for vulnerable populations during air pollution events.

Recent publication trends show concentrated work on landscape fire smoke interventions (2025), portable air cleaner efficacy (2024), and culturally tailored health communication for asthma patients. His research bridges environmental science with practical public health applications.

Goodman actively contributes to the Healthy Environments and Lives (HEAL) National Research Network, addressing air pollution impacts associated with climate change. His collaborative projects include:
