Dr. Nicole L. Podnecky is Assistant Professor of Biology at Saint Michael's College, specializing in microbiological research on antimicrobial resistance mechanisms. Her laboratory investigates molecular determinants of resistance in Gram-negative pathogens.
Research focuses on efflux pump-mediated resistance, molecular diagnostics, and evolutionary patterns of antibiotic susceptibility. Current projects examine collateral sensitivity networks in clinical E. coli strains and resistance mechanisms in Burkholderia species. She mentors undergraduate researchers in antimicrobial discovery and resistance characterization projects.
Publications demonstrate expertise in bacterial genetics, resistance phenotyping, and development of molecular detection methods for clinical bacteriology.
