Nicolas Froeliger is a Professor at the University of Paris Cité, where he co-directs the ILTS (Language Industries and Specialized Translation) professional master's degree. He graduated from ESIT (Paris) in 1987 and defended his thesis on American literature (Thomas Pynchon) in 1995. With 17 years of industry experience directing Architexte Sarl until 2019, he transitioned to academia as a lecturer (1992), senior lecturer (2003), and professor (2014).
His research focuses on pragmatic translation methodologies, including neural machine translation integration, terminology as a discourse tool, and professional translation frameworks. He is the author of 80+ articles and the book The Marriage of Analog and Digital - On Pragmatic Translation (2013), and has edited 15 collective publications.
Froeliger founded the international conference Traductologie de plein champ (2007) and co-organizes the Tralogy conferences (since 2011), bridging translation professionals, researchers, and students. He serves as co-director of the Centre for Translation Studies (CET) and is Vice-President of the French Association of University Training in Translation Professions (AFFUMT), where he launched the translation studies research portal.
