Maud Bénard is a Temporary Research and Teaching Associate (ATER) at the UFR Intercultural Studies of Applied Languages (EILA) and ALTAE laboratory (formerly CLILLAC-ARP) at the University of Paris Cité, from September 2023 to August 2025. She completed her PhD in translation sciences in December 2025, supervised by Professor Natalie Kübler, focusing on neural machine translation challenges in medical and NLP domains. Her academic background includes a 2020 Master's in Specialized Languages, Corpus and Translation Studies (LSCT) and a 2019 Professional Master's in Language Industry and Specialized Translation (ILTS), both from the University of Paris, as well as a 2009 Engineering degree in regional planning from École Polytechnique of the University of Tours.
- Research Focus: Evaluation of neural machine translation systems, particularly in handling complex noun phrases in specialized contexts like medical language and NLP. Her work bridges theoretical translation studies with practical post-editing training for professionals.
- Teaching Experience: Delivered courses on Interpretation Terminology, Applied Corpus Linguistics for Translation, English Written Expression, and Terminology and Documentary Research for translation students at multiple levels (Licence 3, Master 1, Master 2) since 2020.
- Academic Leadership: Served as PhD Student Representative on the CLILLAC-ARP laboratory council (2021–2023) and co-organized major events like the 2023 ConSciLa Study Days, NEUROVIZ/SPECTRANS closing event, and multiple doctoral workshops under ED622 Sciences du langage.
- Supervision: Guided Master's students in documentary research, terminology, and translation theses, including Oriane de RASSE (public transport accessibility), Amina TAGUIROV (medical imaging translation), Chloë MORYN (cinema accessibility for deaf audiences), and Naïry BEDROSSIAN (web accessibility for visually impaired users).
