Dr. Nicola Croxton is a Lecturer in Business and Society at Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University, a position she has held since June 2021. She actively contributes to the Energy, Sustainability & Society Research Group and engages in interdisciplinary work addressing business-society dynamics.
Her academic credentials include:
- BA (Hons) in Business Management and Event Management (2009-2013, Robert Gordon University, completed part-time)
- MSc in International Management (2015-2016, University of Bath)
- PhD in Business Management (2017-2020, Open University) with thesis titled 'Acting with Impunity? The Performance Impact and Strategic Outcomes of Corporate Social Irresponsibility'
Dr. Croxton's research centers on strategic management through a nonmarket strategy lens, examining how corporate social responsibility (CSR) and corporate political activity (CPA) shape firm adaptation in evolving business environments. Using instrumental stakeholder theory, she investigates the financial and non-financial consequences of corporate social irresponsibility (CSiR) and how stakeholders influence or sanction corporate behavior. Her current project 'CEO’s activism and MNEs’ international expansion' (2023-2025) analyzes how CEO activism affects multinational enterprises' location decisions.
