Christiaan Roell is an Assistant Professor of International Business at the UNSW Business School's Department of Management and Governance. His research focuses on political strategies of multinational corporations (MNEs), particularly in Southeast Asia, emphasizing government affairs management and corporate political strategizing aligned with the UN SDGs. He explores how MNEs collaborate with government agencies to address geopolitical risks and sustainability challenges.
Roell has secured significant grants, including Australia-Indonesia Institute grants (2025-26), SSHRC Insight grants (2023-25), and BA/Leverhulme grants (2021-22), totaling over $125,000. His work has been published in top journals like the Journal of International Business Studies and British Journal of Management.
He actively supervises PhD students in areas such as international nonmarket strategy, corporate political activities, and strategic CSR. Roell serves on editorial boards for the Australian Journal of Management, Multinational Business Review, and Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences.
