Dr Nick Stanger is a Senior Lecturer in Sport & Exercise Psychology at the Carnegie School of Sport, Leeds Beckett University, serving as Level 5 Leader for the BSc Sport & Exercise Science course since joining in 2013. He holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham and brings prior teaching experience from Canterbury Christ Church University and the University of Exeter.

Research Interests: Nick's work centers on the regulatory role of emotion in antisocial sport behavior, investigating moral behavior antecedents/consequences, emotion-performance relationships, and sport's impact on youth moral development. His experimental approach incorporates psychophysiological measures to study determinants of antisocial conduct including doping, with current focus on individual differences (perfectionism, mindfulness) and developing the RE>ACT Clean Sport Bystander Intervention to promote community-based prevention of wrongdoing.

Advising and Grants: Supervises undergraduate dissertations, MSc independent studies, and PhD candidates including Eoin Murray (Director of Studies) and Andrew Jennings. Successfully secured internal and external research funding for projects examining integrity in sport and developing the RE>ACT intervention to empower communities against sporting misconduct.
Labs and Teams: Core member of the Centre for Human Performance at Leeds Beckett University, leading research initiatives including the RE>ACT Clean Sport Bystander Intervention project focused on community-based prevention of antisocial conduct in sport.
