Dr. Nick Jones is a Research Fellow at the School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University, with over 20 years of expertise in molluscan biology, sclerochronology, marine conservation, and sustainable aquaculture. His work bridges academic research and commercial applications, focusing on hatchery design, aquaculture-based stock enhancement, and novel culture techniques for marine species.

His research areas include sustainable aquaculture practices, animal welfare, and marine resource management. Recent projects involve optimizing Native oyster (Ostrea edulis) culture for restoration and developing techniques for coral reef fish/invertebrates in collaboration with UK aquariums. Key publications address hatchery protocols for European flat oysters, European smelt, and cuttlefish biology.
Dr. Jones has contributed to significant EU-funded projects (SEAFARE, SNAP, ISPP, NOAR) and Welsh Government grants, including the Shared Prosperity Fund and European Maritime and Fisheries Fund. His practical experience includes roles as Senior Aquarist and Larval Room Superintendent in commercial aquaculture.
