Tom Galley is a Research Fellow at the School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University, with over 20 years of expertise in marine aquaculture research. His work spans temperate and tropical species, focusing on hatchery innovation, larval ecology, and sustainable aquaculture practices.
Education:
- PhD in Bivalve Aquaculture (2015)
- MSc in Shellfish Biology, Fisheries and Aquaculture (2004)
- BSc (Hons) in Marine Biology (2002)
Research Focus: Sustainable aquaculture systems, coral reef fish/invertebrate propagation for aquarium trade, shellfish hatchery optimization, native oyster restoration, and live feed development. His projects address UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 14 - Life Below Water).
Notable Projects: NOAR, SNAP, ISPP, REPROSEED, BLUESEED - EU-funded initiatives targeting commercial and conservation aquaculture. Current work includes Ostrea edulis hatchery development and coral reef fish aquaculture systems.
