Elsa Barratt

Elsa Barratt is a PhD student in Italian Studies at Bangor University and holds tutoring roles in the School of Arts, Culture and Language, including positions as Language Tutor, Italian Tutor, and general Tutor. Her research examines contemporary Italian women’s fiction through interdisciplinary Food Studies, focusing on intersections of food with gender, race, nationhood, and postcolonial themes.

She graduated with a BA in Modern Languages and European Studies from the University of Bath. Her teaching contributions include involvement in undergraduate Italian programmes at Bangor. Research interests encompass feminist food studies, food politics, food history, and critical eating studies, as reflected in her academic fingerprint which highlights topics like post-colonial literature and nationhood.
