Silvia Camilotti

Silvia Camilotti is a Research Fellow at Ca' Foscari University of Venice's Department of Humanities, where she specializes in Italian literature with a focus on migration, postcolonial studies, and gender theory. She serves as scientific consultant for the Archivio Scritture Scrittrici Migranti and the Trentino-based association Il Gioco degli Specchi. Camilotti holds a PhD in Languages, Cultures, and Intercultural Communication from the University of Bologna, where she also completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship. Her academic background includes lecturing positions at the School of Interpreters and Translators in Forlì and IULM University Milan.

Her research examines the intersections of migration, colonial history, and identity formation in Italian literature, with particular emphasis on:

• Italian postcolonial literature and decolonial theory
• Gender and race studies in transnational contexts
• Women's travel writing in former Italian colonies

As editorial board member of DEP. Deportate, esuli, refugee, Camilotti curates the annual column 'A window on the present'. She contributes to digital scholarship through Ca' Foscari's MOOC 'Literature and Migration in Italy' and participates in the university's Diaspore research project.
