معرفی
Dr Nick Gardiner is a Professor at the University of St Andrews, School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, specializing in magmatic and metamorphic processes shaping Earth’s lithosphere and metal resources. His research focuses on Archaean geodynamics, crustal evolution, and mineralization mechanisms, particularly involving lithium, tin, and rare metals. He leads the StAIG isotope labs, specializing in laser ablation MC-ICP-MS analyses, and chairs the Geological Society’s Energy Transition theme. His work integrates field studies, isotopic modeling, and experimental petrology across regions like West Greenland, South Africa, Myanmar, and Zimbabwe.
Research Interests:
- Archaean crustal evolution and craton stabilization
- Magmatic-hydrothermal systems and ore genesis
- Lithium and tin mineralization in granitic pegmatites
- Isotope geochemistry (Hf, Lu, Nd, Si)
- Energy transition mineral resources
Recent work emphasizes lithium-rich pegmatites, structural controls on mineralization, and applying geochemical techniques to trace crustal differentiation. Over 100 peer-reviewed publications demonstrate his leadership in linking petrology, geochemistry, and tectonics to resource exploration.
He advises on sustainable mineral exploitation in developing nations, including Myanmar and Rwanda, and collaborates globally on projects like the North Atlantic Craton architecture and the Mogok gemstone deposits.
