Prof Nick Crossley is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Manchester, leading the Mitchell Centre for Social Network Analysis. He holds the REF lead role for Sociology and has served as Head of Sociology (2007–2010). Educated at the University of Sheffield (BA and PhD), his career includes roles in psychotherapeutic studies and academic leadership. His research focuses on music sociology, social networks, and relational theory. He has supervised 28 PhDs and currently advises 6 students. Key works include studies on punk/post-punk networks and music’s social life. Awards include the 2015 Sage Cultural Sociology Prize. He teaches courses on music sociology, social theory, and body studies, while contributing to social network analysis training programs. His recent projects explore experimental electronic music networks and the rave revival phenomenon.
