Professor Nick Clarke is a Professor of Political Geography at the University of Southampton. His research focuses on governance, citizenship, and responses to globalization. Key areas include innovative approaches to global challenges, democratic resilience post-financial crisis, and methodological uses of Mass Observation. He is affiliated with the Economy, Society and Governance Centre, Centre for Democratic Futures, and Centre for Political Ethnography.
Current research projects include 'The making of 'grey power': Political understandings over the life course' and 'Urban-rural mobilities'. His work has been funded by ESRC, British Academy, and Leverhulme Trust grants. Clarke supervises three PhD students and accepts new applications.
