Nicholaus Erber-LaPierre, PhD, is a Core Faculty member at Antioch University's School of Counseling, Psychology, and Therapy (Counseling Division). He is a licensed mental health counselor in Washington since 2018 and a nationally certified clinical mental health counselor and telemental health provider. His work emphasizes trauma counseling, 2SLGBTQIA+ mental health, and sex-positive therapeutic practices.

Dr. Erber-LaPierre's research focuses on trauma-informed care, identity development in trans-identified individuals, and barriers to mental health services in rural areas. He also explores multicultural competencies in counseling, family systems dynamics, and ethical applications of academic service learning. His clinical work spans two decades with populations including domestic violence offenders, people living with HIV/AIDS, and men in therapy. He integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems techniques.
He has contributed to publications on HIV care coordination, trans identity development in rural Midwest communities, and family therapy frameworks. His presentations address telemental health supervision, implicit bias, and ethical teaching practices in counseling education.
Dr. Erber-LaPierre adheres to student-centered teaching methods, emphasizing experiential education and cultural competence. He is affiliated with the American Mental Health Counselors Association and Washington Mental Health Counselors Association.
