Nicholas W Wood

Nicholas W Wood is Professor and head of the Clay Arts program in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Arlington's College of Liberal Arts. As clay studio area coordinator, he oversees instruction in ceramic arts and sculpture.

His artistic practice spans drawing, collage, sculpture, and curatorial work. Wood's exhibitions explore materiality and form through ceramic and mixed-media installations. Recent exhibitions include 'Presence' at The MAC Dallas and 'Nicholas Wood: Introspective' at Lakeview Gallery.

Notable awards include:

• National Endowment for the Arts Award in Sculpture (1982)
• Grumbacher Gold Medallion Award in Drawing (1990)

Wood mentors graduate students in clay research and independent study projects. He coordinates Gallery West and serves on advisory boards for university galleries.
