Nicholas Simons-Bracken serves as Senior Lecturer/Academic Program Associate at the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare, a role he began in the fall. He holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky (2013) and is completing his Doctor of Social Work at Capella University. Previously adjunct faculty for eight years, he now focuses full-time on teaching BSW and MSW programs, emphasizing foundation social work, capstone coursework, and clinical practice.
His research explores strategies to engage social work graduate students. Licensed as a clinical social worker in Missouri, Kansas, Virginia, and Utah, he has over a decade of direct client service experience. Simons-Bracken emphasizes his long-standing commitment to KU, stating, 'This new role allows me to continue teaching, which I LOVE, across the BSW and MSW programs.'
Key areas of focus include clinical social work practice, social work education innovation, and supporting student success in graduate programs.
