Dr Nicholas Evans is a Senior Lecturer in Diaspora History and Deputy Director of the Wilberforce Institute at the University of Hull. His research focuses on migration patterns in the Atlantic world from the 17th to 20th centuries, with a particular emphasis on decolonizing heritage and amplifying Global Majority experiences in contemporary Britain.
He is a founding member of the Wilberforce House Museum Advisory Board and has contributed to award-winning projects like the Decolonising Museums Award (2023) and PraxisAuril KE Award. Evans teaches modules such as A History of Freedom and Memory, Public History and Heritage, and directs the Hull History Network.
His research interests include migration studies, Jewish history, and the Atlantic world's diasporic legacies. Recent projects include investigations into transmigrant historiography and the development of inclusive curricula in earth science pedagogy.
