Dr. Anyaa Anim-Addo is a Lecturer in the School of History at the University of Leeds, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures. Her research centers on Caribbean history, with interdisciplinary interests in race, gender, mobility, and diaspora. She holds leadership roles including Deputy Director of Student Education and Vice-Chair of the Society for Caribbean Studies (UK).
Her research interests include:
- Caribbean History
- Slavery and Emancipation
- Atlantic and Maritime History
- Women's and Gender History
- Caribbean diaspora in Britain
- Black enterprise in the Atlantic world
Her research has been supported by major grants from the Leverhulme Trust and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), focusing on creative responses to insecurity and historical apologies for slavery. She co-founded the 'Conversations in Black History' seminar series and is deeply involved in public engagement.
Dr. Anim-Addo supervises PhD students in Caribbean and diasporic history and teaches modules on Caribbean identity, decolonization, migration, and Black Britain. She is affiliated with research groups including Empires and Aftermath, Galleries Libraries Archives and Museums, and Women Gender and Sexuality.
