Dr Maya Parmar is a Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London, working on the AHRC-funded project 'Remaking Britain: South Asian Connections and Networks, 1830s to the present'. Her research focuses on South Asian diasporic cultural production, oral history methodologies, and minoritized identities. She holds a PhD from the University of Leeds (2013) and previously served as a researcher at The Open University from 2013 to 2021, leading projects such as 'Beyond the Frame' and 'Reading Communities'.
She is founder of Hadithi C.I.C., a social enterprise dedicated to heritage preservation through intergenerational oral history projects. Her work emphasizes co-production with communities, including Hidden Heritages Cambridgeshire (2022), funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. She also appears in media discussions on South Asian history and diaspora narratives, including BBC2's 'Great British Railway Journeys'.
