Niamh Dolly Fitzpatrick is an Associate Lecturer in English Literature and a part-time doctoral researcher at the University of Worcester's School of Arts and Humanities. She holds a dual affiliation: as a PhD candidate focusing on villainy in early modern drama (1660-1717) and as a staff member in the Department of English, Media, and Culture. She serves as PGR Rep for the College of Education, Culture, and Society.
Her research examines how playwrights like Margaret Cavendish and Aphra Behn redefined villainy through queer theory and historicism, emphasizing fluid, non-binary characterizations. Supervised by Dr. Sharon Young and Prof. Nicoleta Cinpoes, her work intersects with proto-feminism and gender studies.
Niamh actively participates in academic communities, including the Women’s Studies Group 1558–1837 and the British Society for Eighteenth Century Studies. She has presented at conferences such as the Shakespeare Centre London Conference (2024) and the Human | Nature Humanities Conference (2023), focusing on topics like monstrosity in Shakespearean works and neoclassicism in tragicomedies.
Her publications include reviews in Theatre Journal and Shakespeare Bulletin, alongside contributions to Research@Worcs. In 2019, she received the Early Modern Research Group Prize for Interdisciplinary Research.
