Dr Nia Davies is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Sciences at Swansea University, where she serves as Programme Director for the Applied Medical Science Foundation Year. Her research focuses on in vivo models for pharmacology education, molecular biology, and cancer-related inflammation. She holds a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and has contributed to pedagogical advancements in medical science education.
Education: BSc and MSc in Biomedical Science (University of Wales Institute, Cardiff), PhD in Exercise and Inflammation (NISCHR scholarship). Research highlights include pioneering studies on clot microstructure biomarkers in cancer and the use of Lumbriculus variegatus as an in vivo model for drug testing. Awards include the Lifeblood Travel Scholarship for her international conference presentation.
- Teaching roles: Module leader for PM-002 The Human Cell, PM-003 Molecular Biology, and others.
- Advising: Supervises MSc students on cannabinoid effects, nicotine inhibition, and ethanol exposure studies using Lumbriculus.
