Professor Lisa Wallace is a Professor of Pharmacology and Medical Sciences Education at Swansea University, serving as Associate Dean (International) for the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science and Chair of the University’s Programme Approval Committee. She holds a BSc in Biology and PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Virginia Commonwealth University, followed by a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Her research focuses on behavioral pharmacology, drugs of abuse, and novel invertebrate models (Lumbriculus variegatus) for studying psychoactive substances. She is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, emphasizing curriculum development and quality assurance in collaboration with organizations like the British Pharmacological Society and Royal Society of Biology.
Her scientific awards include Fellowships from the Royal Society of Biology and British Pharmacological Society. She has supervised MSc projects on substance abuse and in vivo pharmacology models. Her teaching modules include toxicology, pharmacokinetics/dynamics, and a capstone research project. Recent research highlights involve cannabinoid and nicotine effects on Lumbriculus variegatus, published in journals like Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry and Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior.
