Nhan L. Tran

Nhan L. Tran, Ph.D., is a Professor of Cancer Biology at Mayo Clinic, with primary appointments in the Department of Research and joint roles in the Departments of Radiation Oncology and Neurologic Surgery. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, his research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of cancer cell invasion and therapeutic resistance.

Dr. Tran holds a PhD in Cancer Biology and a BS in Microbiology from the University of Arizona, followed by postdoctoral training at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (Brain Tumor Unit) and Barrow Neurological Institute (Neuro-Oncology).

His research interests include cancer genomics, metastasis pathways, and developing novel drug targets through high-throughput screening. Key projects address tumor heterogeneity in GBM and central nervous system metastasis, aiming to improve patient outcomes by preventing tumor recurrence.

Dr. Tran’s work bridges basic science and clinical applications, contributing to Mayo Clinic’s Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Cancer Cell Genomics, Signaling, and Metastasis Program. He collaborates across departments to advance translational research in oncology.
