He holds a PhD in Pharmacology from UQ, preceded by a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Pakistan and regulatory experience at the Ministry of Health, Pakistan.
- Research focuses on neuroinflammation and vascular dysfunction in diseases like multiple sclerosis (MS) and sepsis.
- Key projects involve Eph/ephrin signaling, ASIC inhibitors, and NLRP3 inflammasome targeting.
- Current funding includes grants from National Multiple Sclerosis Society-US and Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia.
- Collaborations include A/Prof Mark Coulthard, Dr Neville Butcher, and Dr Lachlan Rash.
- He utilizes animal models (EAE, CLP, Cuprizone) and molecular biology for translational research.
Research trends from his 15 most recent publications (2024–2017) span MS pathophysiology, sepsis vascular repair, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and ASIC/NLRP3 targeting, with keywords including Pharmacology, Neuroinflammation, Ion Channels, and Translational Medicine.
Supervision includes Doctor Philosophy candidates in MS drug development, sepsis mechanisms, and neuroprotective agents, often as associate advisor alongside experts like Dr Lachlan Rash and Dr Neville Butcher.
