Nelia M. Quezada

Dr. Nelia M. Quezada-Horne is a SUNY PRODiG+ Fellow and Visiting Assistant Professor at the University at Albany School of Social Welfare. With PhD, MSW, and BA degrees from UAlbany, her practice background spans state government, foster care, at-risk youth programs, and private practice. Her research examines interventions enhancing social support and belonging to address mental/physical health disparities.

Research Focus: Anti-racism frameworks in social work; Obesity and nutrition interventions; Social-emotional wellbeing; Urban youth empowerment; Community-based health equity.

Practice Experience: Extensive background in child welfare systems, government policy, and direct service with marginalized populations informs her research-practice integration.
