Neil Weston

Dr. Neil Weston is an Affiliate Research Professor at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), affiliated with the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping (CCOM) and the Joint Hydrographic Center (JHC). His appointment strengthens academic and research collaborations between UNH and the Office of Coast Survey, National Ocean Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). His work bridges engineering, physics, and ocean mapping through advanced technological research.

Dr. Weston's research interests include GNSS/GPS positioning, geophysical phenomena affecting land and ocean interfaces, data visualization, digital signal processing, and computational modeling. His interdisciplinary background enables innovative approaches to coastal and marine geospatial challenges, with a focus on integrating sensor technologies and real-time data systems.

His educational background includes a doctorate in biomedical engineering and physics from the Catholic University of America (2007), a master's in physics (sensor systems) from Johns Hopkins University, and another master's in physics (laser optics and quantum electronics) from the University of South Florida. These qualifications underpin his technical leadership in both academic and governmental scientific communities.

Dr. Weston is actively involved in mentoring graduate students and delivering invited talks to promote NOAA's scientific initiatives. He holds advisory roles as a Science/Technical Advisor for the U.S. State Department and the United Nations, reflecting his broad impact beyond academia.

He is engaged in high-level collaborations between academic institutions and federal agencies, particularly in advancing hydrographic and geospatial science.
