Christopher Parrish is a Professor and Plasker Faculty Scholar in Geomatics at Oregon State University's School of Civil and Construction Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.S. from the University of Florida. His research focuses on emerging geospatial technologies for coastal applications, including satellite-derived bathymetry, UAS-based mapping, and remote sensing. Parrish is a Past President of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) and has collaborated with NOAA's National Geodetic Survey and the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping (CCOM-JHC) at the University of New Hampshire. His work emphasizes fusion of multisource data for nearshore bathymetry and coastal zone management.
Education:
- Ph.D., Civil Engineering (Geospatial Information Engineering), University of Wisconsin-Madison
- M.S., Civil and Coastal Engineering (Geomatics), University of Florida
Research Interests: Advanced geospatial tools for coastal management, full-waveform LiDAR, topographic-bathymetric LiDAR, hyperspectral imagery, and UAS applications. Recent projects include ICESat-2 bathymetry validation and refraction correction methodologies for spectrally derived bathymetry.
Awards: Plasker Faculty Scholar in Geomatics, ASPRS leadership roles, and contributions to coastal remote sensing standards.
Labs/Teams: Parrish Research Group at Oregon State University, affiliated with CCOM-JHC for collaborative hydrographic research.
