Juliet Kinney

Juliet Kinney is a Multibeam Mapping and Data Research Analyst at the University of New Hampshire's Center for Coastal & Ocean Mapping (CCOM), where she specializes in bathymetric data acquisition, processing, and troubleshooting. She contributes to Seabed 2030 and supports Environmental Compliance initiatives at JHC/CCOM. Prior to this, she served as a Hydrographic Analyst for CCOM and ERT/NOAA, focusing on GIS mapping, sonar data reuse, and metadata standards.

Education

• Ph.D. in Marine & Atmospheric Sciences from Stony Brook University (2012), focusing on 3D seafloor morphology and isotope geochemistry in the Peconic Estuary.
• B.S. in Earth Systems Science (magna cum laude) from University of Massachusetts–Amherst, with an Art minor.

Her work bridges geological oceanography and paleoclimate studies, utilizing high-resolution seafloor mapping to analyze environmental changes. She applies technical expertise in Python, databases, and sonar data processing to advance projects like the National Bathymetric Source Project and Sandy IOCM Center initiatives.

She has held roles at Bridgewater State University (temporary full-time faculty in Geological Sciences), USGS (ECO intern working on physical oceanographic and sediment transport data), and ERT/NOAA's Office of Coast Survey, where she led data reuse and best practices implementation.
