Dr. Neil Maxwell is a Reader in Applied Environmental Physiology at the University of Brighton's School of Education, Sport and Health. He leads the Environmental Extremes Lab, focusing on heat and altitude physiology, with a particular interest in optimizing performance and health across sport, clinical, and occupational populations. His research spans heat mitigation strategies, altitude illness prevention, and cross-tolerance adaptations. Dr. Maxwell holds dual fellowships: Fellow of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
