معرفی
Professor Neil Ferguson is a Professor at the University of Southampton's School of Engineering, within the Department of Engineering and the Environment. His research focuses on structural dynamics, wave models, and vibration in random/periodic media. He leads the Dynamics Group and develops methodologies for structural response prediction, fault detection, and material property estimation. Current projects address variability in structural systems and applications like acoustic leak detection and corrosion analysis.
He supervises PhD students in Engineering & Environment and teaches vibration engineering principles. External roles include coordinating a Technical Accredited Scheme module on NVH for Jaguar Land Rover. Neil holds academic titles (PhD, CEng, FIOA, FHEA) and has a career spanning aerospace, automotive, and civil engineering dynamics. His biography highlights contributions to acoustic fatigue, mid/high-frequency modeling, and structural acoustics through EPSRC and EU-funded projects.
Key achievements include hybrid modeling techniques for mid/high-frequency structural responses and collaborations with industry partners like BAe Systems and China Rocket. His work bridges theoretical models with experimental validation, addressing real-world challenges in vibration control and structural integrity.
