Jen Muggleton

Jen Muggleton is a Research Professor in the Dynamics Group at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR), part of the School of Engineering at the University of Southampton. Her research focuses on wave propagation in pipes and ground, emphasizing leak detection and buried infrastructure location. She collaborates with UK Water Industry Research (UKWIR) on their 'Zero Leakage 2050' initiative and explores optical fibre technology for pipeline monitoring.

Research Interests:

Muggleton's work spans acoustic leak detection, vibration analysis of fluid-filled pipes, and the application of vibroacoustic techniques to detect buried infrastructure. She also investigates automotive tyre vibration and structural dynamics. Her research integrates advanced methods like wavelet-based analysis and distributed sensing to enhance pipeline monitoring accuracy and efficiency.

She has led major projects like the vibroacoustic component of 'Mapping the Underworld' (2004–2018).
