معرفی
Neil B Metcalfe is a Professor of Behavioural Ecology at the University of Glasgow, affiliated with the School of Biodiversity, One Health & Vet Medicine. His research focuses on the interplay between individual differences in behaviour, physiology, and life-history strategies in fish, particularly salmonids. He leads projects funded by ERC Advanced Grants investigating metabolic phenotypes, mitochondrial efficiency, and aging mechanisms. Collaborations include studies on nutrient deposition in salmon streams and telomere dynamics with Pat Monaghan's group.
- Research Interests: Metabolic rate variation, mitochondrial function, aging, fish conservation, and life-history evolution.
- Grants: ERC Advanced Grants (2020-2025), NERC, and Commonwealth Scholarships.
- Key Collaborators: Colin Selman, Richard Hartley, Ian McCarthy, Pat Monaghan.
His work integrates lab and field studies, using facilities like the Scottish Centre for Ecology and Natural Environment. Current projects explore how metabolic traits influence survival and adaptation under environmental change. He advises PhD students on topics like salmon restoration and genetic diversity in aquaculture.
