Dr. Neelke van der Weerd is a Teaching Professor and Principal Educator at Amsterdam University Medical Centers (Amsterdam UMC), appointed since October 2020. As an internist-nephrologist, she combines clinical practice with significant academic contributions to medical education. Her role as Principal Educator focuses on advancing educational initiatives, particularly the implementation of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) in clinical training. She previously served as a nephrology differentiation trainer, Master of Medicine program coordinator, and member of national education committees.
Her expertise centers on aligning assessment practices with workplace learning, emphasizing clarity in resident progression and interdisciplinary collaboration across medical training programs. Key areas include bridging gaps between postgraduate medical training and nursing programs to foster shared educational frameworks.
Dr. van der Weerd actively contributes to the Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) network, sharing insights on curriculum design and educational innovation.
