Neal Peres Da Costa is a Professor of Historical Performance and Associate Dean (Research) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney. He holds a BMus (Hons), DipEarlyMus, MMus, and PhD. His academic roles include founding the Historical Performance division (2007), leading postgraduate research programs, and currently serving as Associate Dean.

Publications & Projects: Authored Off the Record: Performing Practices in Romantic Piano Playing (Oxford, 2012) and co-edited Creative Research in Music (Routledge, 2020). Led major projects like the Dowling Songbook Project (2016) and Hearing the Music of Early NSW (2021 ARC-funded). Notable recordings include HIP interpretations of Beethoven, Brahms, and colonial Australian works.
