Naureen Rahim is a Research Fellow and PhD candidate at the University of Oslo's Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law, focusing on Bangladesh’s role in international refugee law despite its non-signatory status to the 1951 Refugee Convention. Her research combines field studies and archival analysis, particularly in Rohingya refugee camps. She holds an LLM from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and a Master of Social Sciences in Criminology from the University of Dhaka.
Her academic interests span International Humanitarian Law, Refugee and Migration, and Transitional Justice. She has contributed to genocide studies research through the Center for the Study of Genocide and Justice (CSGJ) and coordinated fieldwork in Bangladesh’s Rohingya camps. Awards include the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation Awards (2018–2019) and participation in the 55th International Law Seminar (2019).
Rahim has held adjunct faculty roles at institutions like Jahangirnagar University and taught courses on genocide studies and international law. She is affiliated with organizations such as the European Society of International Law (ESIL) and the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS).
