Nathaniel Lee is the Lecturer of Trombone at the University of Virginia and serves as Principal Trombone of the Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia. He is also an active performer and educator, maintaining a robust freelance career with engagements across major orchestras, opera companies, and music festivals in Virginia and beyond.

Nathaniel Lee specializes in trombone performance and brass pedagogy, with a strong emphasis on chamber music and orchestral training. As a founding member of the American Trombone Quartet, he has performed at prestigious venues and international festivals, including the International Trombone Festival and the Lille Trombone Festival in France. His research and artistic interests extend to performance practice, brass ensemble development, and music education outreach.
Throughout his career, Lee has been recognized for his excellence in performance, including the 2013 Downbeat Magazine Award for Outstanding Graduate Soloist. He has also served as a soloist and recitalist at national conferences and universities, and was invited to adjudicate the International Trombone Association Trombone Quartet Competition in 2018 and 2019.

He is also an Edwards artist, performing exclusively on Edwards trombones, and maintains an online presence through the American Trombone Quartet and Edwards Instruments.
