Mátyás Veér is a Hungarian-born bass trombonist and faculty member at the University of Music Würzburg since 2020. He simultaneously maintains an active performance career as the bass trombonist at the Stuttgart State Opera since 2018, and has performed with renowned orchestras worldwide including the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Essen Philharmonic, Philharmonia London, Hallé Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Veér received his musical education at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest, where he specialized in bass trombone. His dedication to the instrument began at an early age within a musical family, and he has since established himself as one of the leading bass trombonists of his generation, being the only musician to have won all four major international trombone competitions.
As a performer, Veér specializes in orchestral and chamber music performance with a focus on bass trombone repertoire. His artistic approach combines technical mastery with musical sensitivity, having performed under conductors including Cornelius Meister, Lorin Maazel, Andris Nelsons, Daniele Gatti, and Sir Mark Elder. He is particularly known for his work with the Corpus Trombone Quartet, which he co-founded, expanding the possibilities of trombone performance.

Professor Veér is deeply committed to music education, regularly conducting masterclasses at prestigious institutions worldwide. He has served as guest professor at universities in Rotterdam (2014), Amsterdam (2016), London (2018), Manchester (2018), and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (2019) before joining the faculty at the University of Music Würzburg in 2020. He also serves as a jury member for international competitions, helping to identify and nurture emerging talent in the field of trombone performance.
Veér maintains an active chamber music presence through his work with the Corpus Trombone Quartet, which has established itself as a leading ensemble in the brass chamber music world. His performances often explore both traditional and contemporary repertoire, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on the bass trombone while maintaining the highest standards of musical expression.
