Dr Nathan Manning is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Adelaide, part of the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics. He joined the university in 2018 after roles at the University of York and the University of Bradford in the UK. His research focuses on political sociology, particularly examining youth citizenship, political dissatisfaction, and the role of emotions in politics and citizenship. Key projects include studies on university education’s impact on right-wing populism and masculinity’s role in political attitudes. He co-edits the journal Emotions and Society and has been funded by the British Academy, Leverhulme Trust, and ESRC. His work often uses archival data from the UK’s Mass Observation Project to explore emotional dimensions of citizenship.
