Dr. Nathan Derejko is the Mauro Chair in Human Rights and Social Justice and Assistant Professor of Law at Robson Hall, Faculty of Law, University of Manitoba. His academic background includes a PhD in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (University of Essex), an LLM in International Human Rights Law (National University of Ireland Galway), and a BA in Political Science (Dalhousie University).
His research focuses on intersecting domains of international law, including:
- Human rights applicability during armed conflicts
- Counter-terrorism legal frameworks
- Climate change implications for human rights
- Collective security and jus ad bellum principles
His publications explore evolving challenges in armed conflict, such as temporal/geographical boundaries of warfare and drone technology's legal implications, reflecting consistent themes of human rights protection in volatile contexts.
