Dr. Nathan Bowman serves as Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance at Benedictine College. He is also the co-founder and Producing Artistic Director of Kansas City Public Theatre, honored as the "2022 Arts Organization of the Year" by the State of Missouri.
Education:
- BA in Theatre and Philosophy, Northwest Missouri State University
- MA in Religious Studies
- PhD in Theatre, University of Kansas
His research and artistic work centers on Greek Tragedy, Theatre History, Directing, Movement, Religion, Stagecraft, and Sound. Dr. Bowman has directed and acted in numerous productions, including ancient Greek plays at historical theaters in Greece such as Oiniades and Messene.

Dr. Bowman holds leadership roles including Co-Chair of Playwriting at the Mid-America Theatre Conference and Chair of the International Symposium on Ancient Drama at the Athens Institute of Education and Research. He is the Book Review Editor for Theatre Topics and leads the Summer Theatre in Greece study abroad program. His scholarly work has been published in journals such as Etudes, The New England Theatre Journal, Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism, and Mantragoras.
