Laura Brown serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of English at Benedictine College, teaching English Composition, Literature, and English as a Second Language courses. Her academic foundation includes graduate specialization in 19th and 20th century literature and film depicting social circumstances, complemented by extensive training in dramatic arts ranging from Theatre of the Absurd to contemporary theatre.
Her research focuses on the catalytic role of literature, history, and drama in human development, with particular emphasis on:
- 19th/20th Century Literary and Cinematic Social Analysis
- Theatrical Evolution from Absurdist to Modern Forms
- Etymological Connections Between Historical and Contemporary Language
- Cultural Commentary Through Narrative Structures
Mrs. Brown's publications in regional outlets like Simply KC Magazine, Women’s Edition Magazine, and The Washburn Review demonstrate consistent engagement with cultural topics and faith-based narratives, including contributions to the anthology Heavenly Healing: Testimonies from Lay Apostles for Christ the Returning King.
She actively supports local pregnancy care centers and serves on the KC, MO Rachel’s Vineyard retreat team. Personally, she trains in Israeli Krav Maga (currently at brown belt level), maintains hobbies in gardening and culinary arts, and resides with her husband and five children in Lecompton, Kansas.
