Nathalie Clavel is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Montréal's School of Public Health, specifically within the Department of Health Management, Evaluation, and Policy. She holds a bachelor's degree in public administration from the University of Bordeaux, a master's in health administration from the University of Montréal, and a PhD in public health (Healthcare Organization) from the University of Montréal's School of Public Health. Her postdoctoral training focused on hospital-acquired infection control at McGill University's Ingram School of Nursing.
Her research interests include organizational innovations in healthcare, implementation and evaluation of interventions, change management, healthcare quality and patient safety, patient and family engagement, and environmental responsibility of healthcare institutions. She is currently leading projects on sustainable healthcare services and eco-innovations adoption, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CRSH). She also collaborates on a randomized controlled trial combining digital platforms and peer support for diabetes patients, supported by the CHUM Research Centre.

Dr. Clavel has received significant awards, including postdoctoral fellowships from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (2022–2023) and Fonds de recherche santé–Québec (2020–2023). She is an interim director of the master's program in healthcare quality and patient safety (QUEOPSI) and chairs the scientific committee for the 41st Jean-Yves-Rivard Colloquium on healthcare workforce planning and innovation. Her work emphasizes sustainable healthcare practices, reducing carbon footprints, and integrating eco-innovations without regulatory mandates.
She supervises master’s students in healthcare administration and collaborates on nursing and midwifery projects. Her professional activities include teaching courses like ASA-6037 (Integration Seminar) and ASA-6120 (Foundations of Healthcare Management), alongside program development roles in interdisciplinary health programs. She actively participates in research networks like RRISIQ and the Quebec COVID-19 Research Network (RQCP).
Her future research focuses on organizational innovations in hospitals to enhance care quality, safety, and efficiency, particularly addressing environmental sustainability challenges in healthcare systems.
