Natasha A. Kelly is a Visiting Professor for Cultural Studies at the Studium Generale of the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK Berlin) since the 2023/24 winter semester. A communications scientist, sociologist, author, curator, and multimedia artist, her work focuses on Black German history, Black feminism, and Afrofuturism. She holds a PhD and has held visiting professorships at the University of Rhode Island (USA) and the University of Tübingen. Her artistic works have been exhibited at institutions like the Berlin Biennale and the German Historical Museum.
As chairwoman of the non-profit Black German Arts and Culture eV, she directs the first institute for Black German art and scholarship in Germany. She also co-leads the pan-European Black European Academic Network (BEAN) and co-founded the international collective Black Speculative Arts Movement (BSAM). Her 2023 book *Black. German. Female.* critiques intersectional gaps in feminist discourse and centers Black women’s narratives in German history.
Her research bridges academic and artistic practices, emphasizing interdisciplinary and multimedia approaches. Recent public engagements include lectures such as *Ich bin die Vision meiner Vorfahr*innen* in Cologne (November 2023).
