Nataliya Aluferova is a Research Associate and PhD fellow at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Hamburg, Faculty of Humanities, since March 2022. She conducts research on vaccination perceptions among Russian-speaking communities in Germany as part of the Innovative Training Network "Knowing Vaccines: Policies, Practices, People".
Her educational background includes:
- PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology (2022-present), University of Hamburg
- MA in Sociology (2018-2020), Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Moscow
- MA in Sociology (2018-2019), Manchester University and The Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences
- MA in Cultural Anthropology (2016-2019), European University at St. Petersburg
- BA in Sociology (2012-2016), Higher School of Economics, St. Petersburg (with honors)
Her research examines small closed communities, the Russian North, and anthropology of emotions through qualitative fieldwork in rural Russia, Dagestan, and Jewish settlements. She investigates trust dynamics, public/private boundaries, and adaptation processes using microsociological frameworks.
Aluferova actively participates in the "Knowing Vaccines" research consortium and has contributed to the Peasant Studies Research Center and Center for Arctic Social Studies. She presents regularly at international conferences including EASA and 4S.
