Natalija S. Petronijevic

Natalija S. Petronijevic serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade. She commenced her academic career at the institution as a Researcher-intern (2024-2025) before being appointed Assistant Professor in 2025.

Education

Her research spans Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and Environmental Chemistry with specialization in PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) contamination analysis and industrial applications. She integrates microbiological principles with biotechnological processes in her work, particularly through involvement in Horizon Europe's PFAStwin project addressing Serbia's environmental challenges.

She actively contributes to the Horizon Europe project "Twinning to address the PFAS challenge in Serbia (PFAStwin)" (2022-2025), funded by the European Commission, focusing on environmental remediation strategies. This represents her primary research grant engagement.

As a core member of the Department of Biochemistry, she participates in the faculty's research infrastructure and contributes to departmental initiatives in chemical sciences education and environmental research.
